Visa and Mastercard's Crypto Moves, Robinhood's DeFi Update, and Deloitte's Crypto Hiring

1. Visa Expands Crypto Team to Boost Mainstream Adoption

Visa is actively recruiting experienced crypto developers to aid in advancing public blockchain networks and stablecoin payments. The new roles, announced by Visa's head of crypto, Cuy Sheffield, aim to propel mainstream adoption of these technologies. Preferred candidates are those familiar with AI-assisted engineering tools like Github Copilot, primarily for smart contract development and debugging.

2. Mastercard Collaborates with Solana, Polygon on Crypto Credential Standards

Mastercard is partnering with public blockchain developers, including Aptos Labs, Ava Labs, Polygon, and The Solana Foundation, to create a new set of standards known as Mastercard Crypto Credential. The aim is to enhance the trust of consumers, businesses, and governments in the crypto sector. Wallet providers Bit2Me, Lirium, Mercado Bitcoin, and Uphold have also joined the initiative, focusing on cross-border payments in Latin America.

3. Robinhood Unveils 'Connect' for Seamless DeFi Integration

Robinhood has launched Robinhood Connect, a significant update that allows users of its crypto wallet to access their credentials and funds directly from decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols and apps—without needing to open the Robinhood app itself. Crypto general manager Johann Kerbrat acknowledges the existing hurdles in broader crypto adoption and hopes the update will provide a solution.

4. Hong Kong SFC Set to Launch Digital Asset Guidelines

Hong Kong's Securities Futures Commission (SFC) is releasing crypto license guidelines in May. The move will better clarify the territory's digital currency sphere and address concerns regarding trading, custody, and issuance of digital assets. Hong Kong is striving to establish itself as a leading hub for the cryptocurrency industry in Asia.

5. Deloitte Actively Recruiting Crypto Experts

Deloitte is on a hiring spree, seeking cryptocurrency experts to join its team, according to LinkedIn job postings. With over 300 crypto-related positions listed in the United States alone, the Big Four accounting firm signals its strong commitment to Web3 and crypto. Interestingly, similar searches for the other Big Four accounting firms yield no results, setting Deloitte apart in its crypto focus.
